WALKING BACK TO HAPPINESS!

A keen walker, Letchworth Garden City Rotary Club's immediate past president David Green didn't know whether he was coming or going on the club's big annual charity walk recently.

David, who was president at the time, decided to complete the 15-mile walk backwards!
"We organise the walk every year and I thoroughly enjoy it. However, as it was my presidential year I wanted to meet as many of the other walkers as I could. Walking against the flow was a good way of doing it," he said.

Nearly £12,000 was raised by 286 walkers who completed the round-Letchworth course.

Organiser Jim Morley said: "It was a lovely day and we are very grateful to those who supported us - including Letchworth Inner Wheel which provided the refreshments en route."

Since it was first organised in 1983 the walk - called the 'Garden City 15' - has raised over £200,000 for various charities.
