Peter Gets Top Rotary Award

Letchworth Garden City Rotarian Peter Deary has been awarded Rotary’s premier individual award, a Paul Harris Fellowship, for his work in the local community.

A keen conservationist, he launched the Manor Wood project at Willian during his club presidential year, which not only provided an area of woodland for the community to enjoy, but also raised money to fund tree nurseries in Ethiopia.

In addition, Peter, who is married with three grown-up children and seven grandchildren and lives in Hawthorne Hill, Letchworth Garden City, is well known for his many years in scouting and for his church work. He is also a school governor.

Club president John Moys, who presented the award, said: “During Peter’s 26 years in Rotary he has worked tirelessly for the club and the local community, and we are delighted to show our appreciation in this way. He fully deserves the award.”

Paul Harris Fellowships are awarded to individuals who, by their individual efforts, have exemplified the Rotary spirit of ‘service before self’.
