INDIAN EARTHQUAKE APPEAL
| The following letter appeared
in "The Comet" on February 22, 2001, in response to various
fundraising events in connection with the Indian earthquake appeal:
SIR - I would like to thank the people of Letchworth for giving so generously to our recent street collection in aid of the Indian earthquake victims on Saturday, February 10. I am also grateful to Letchworth Howard Rotary Club and Letchworth Inner Wheel Club for helping with the appeal. The street collection raised over £600 which was supplemented by donations from St George's Church (£35), St Nicholas School (£202) and Letchworth Inner Wheel (£100). Further donations received by club member Sunil Vilas (£170) brought the final total to £1,130 - an excellent effort by everyone concerned. Bob Hopcraft |
