TOP ROTARIAN VISITS LETCHWORTH
John Hockin, President of Rotary International in Britain and Ireland will be
visiting East Anglia this week, from Tuesday 29th to Thursday 2nd 2000, as part of the President's annual tour of districts within these islands.
On his travels he will view Rotary sponsored projects: an amenity woodland in Letchworth Garden
City, a special needs playground put together by the Bury St. Edmunds Rotary Club for severely handicapped pupils at the Riverwalk
School, the Genesis Project in Ipswich, which local clubs have supported together with Mencap and the Ipswich
Children's Hospice. He will also speak to Rotarians in Kings Lynn, Great Yarmouth and Norwich.
The President comes from a background in Education, having worked in an approved school, as a headmaster at secondary level and a member of the Inspectorate. Leading Rotary into the 21st Century he is committed to promoting voluntary service in the community, highlighting the part Rotary has played both locally and Internationally in improving the quality of life for all people.
