£2,500 'TREAT' FOR DAY CARE CENTRE

A cheque for £2,500 has been presented to the Howard Garden Social and Day Care Centre, Letchworth, to help pay for equipment in a planned new treatment room to be built for the members.

The donation was made by Letchworth Garden City Rotary Club and was presented by the two immediate past-presidents, David Green and Peter Jackson, who chose to support the centre during their terms of office.
The cash comes from the Garden City 15 charity walk which is organised by the club each May.

John Pyle, president of the day care centre, said: "This is a generous gesture by the club. We have been granted Lottery funding to build the new treatment room but this money will help pay for equipment. The facilities are very badly needed by our members."

After presenting the cheque, the club made a special presentation to one of the centre's former chairmen. Mrs. Yvonne Savage was presented with a Rotary Certificate in recognition of her community service with various local organisations over many years. She is pictured left with David and Peter.
